ABOUT THE PORT OF EVERETT
The Port of Everett, located on Port Gardner Bay at the mouth of the Snohomish River, was formed by the citizens of Everett in 1918 to create economic opportunities and protect the waterfront for the community. The Port has a long history of providing marine-related services and appropriate public access to the waterfront. The Port strives to bring quality jobs, business, and tourism opportunities to its local and surrounding communities, and is committed to enhancing, restoring and preserving the overall environmental health of our waterfront through environmental remediation, pollution prevention and resiliency planning.
The Port of Everett operates three lines of business: 1) international shipping terminals; 2) marina facilities; and 3) real estate development. The Port operates eight shipping berths situated on approximately 125 acres of land, and specializes in handling high-value, conventional and over dimensional cargoes in support of the aerospace, military, construction, manufacturing, agriculture, energy and forest products
industries.
The Port of Everett runs the largest public marina on the West Coast with more than 2,300 recreational boating slips and a 13-lane public boat launch facility. On the real estate side, the Port owns 3,300 acres
of property, including Jetty Island, and works to return environmentally damaged property to productive use, restoring economic prosperity to the waterfront. The Port’s properties also provide numerous public
access and recreational opportunities for area residents and visitors to enjoy, supporting a vibrant, livable and balanced waterfront that generates economic and recreational opportunities. Through its operations, the Port supports nearly 40,000 jobs and contributes $433 million to state and local taxes.
JOB SUMMARY
The Marina Manager is responsible for creating a welcoming, professional environment for all Marina slipholders, guests and visitors to the Port while ensuring smooth day-to-day operations. The ideal candidate is a proactive leader with a passion for hospitality, outstanding communication skills and a commitment to high-touch customer service. From coordinating marina logistics and services to mentoring staff and enhancing customer service protocols, the Marina Manager plays a key role in sharing the first impression and ongoing satisfaction of all who interact with the Port.

SUPERVISORY RELATIONSHIPS
SUPERVISOR’S TITLE: Chief of Marina Operations
SECONDARY REPORT: Chief of Business Development and Tourism
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
• Enhance customer and visitor experience by implementing first-rate service standards, gathering feedback, and coordinating improvements to amenities, signage, and overall guest engagement
• Oversee brand integrity across all Marina communications, signage, and public-facing materials to ensure consistent messaging, alignment with organizational values and operational excellence
• Enhance business development and slip guest moorage occupancy through events, marketing, visitor experience elements, etc.
• Remain current in boating industry trends, and implement as appropriate for the Port of Everett Marina, boatyard, launches and other facilities
• Lead and execute special projects aimed at improving workflows and customer and visitor experience through enhanced efficiency and the integration of technological solutions
• Contribute to the coordination of commercial in-water projects through research, strategic planning and analytical support
• Collaborate with the Chief of Marina Operations to establish work priorities and implement industry best practices that enhance efficiency, business performance and customer care
• Collaborate with the Chief of Business Development and Tourism on Waterfront Place redevelopment and ensuring boaters interests are represented
• Support the Chief of Marina Operations in defining strategic business objectives, including rate structures and operational targets, as assigned
• Assist in development of the Marina division’s annual budget and administer the budget as approved, implementing cost control measures as necessary
• Collaborate with the Director of Security and Safety to proactively identify and mitigate risks, ensuring a safe, comfortable and secure environment for slipholders, guests, visitors, and staff
• Coordinate with all departments to address and resolve Marina-related incidents effectively
• Represent the Port in public meetings, hearings or stakeholder engagements and presentations
• Act as a liaison for the Marina working with Port partners, including city, county and tribal governments, etc.
• Resolve staff issues, and coordinate with the Chief of Marina Operations and HR Manager to address disciplinary matters, questions regarding CBA interpretation, etc.
• Chair staff meetings, and act as liaison between staff and the Chief of Marina Operations and Chief of Business Development and Tourism to maintain a smooth flow of information
• Provide leadership and mentorship to Marina staff by maintaining performance documentation, conducting evaluations, and delivering coaching and training that foster a culture of superior customer service reflecting a professional, courteous, responsive, and can-do attitude aimed at making slipholders, guests and visitors feel valued
• Support the recruitment, onboarding, and training of new team members, contributing to their growth and development within the organization
• Enforce all Port and Marina policies, work rules, and operational procedures
• Approve leave requests, oversee staff schedules and payroll transactions
• Perform other duties as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities (KSA’s) Required of all Employees:
The possession of the following KSA’s by all exempt Port employees assures that the Port is maintaining a knowledgeable, capable, professional staff that is committed to the Port’s mission. As such, all exempt Port employees are expected to:
• Demonstrate expertise specific to their profession and maintain appropriate licensing/certification.
• Possess intermediate level personal computer skills and the ability to effectively utilize electronic communication systems.
• Display the diplomacy necessary to address sensitive issues or complaints—both public and private.
• Possess effective conflict resolution and personal negotiation skills.
• Exhibit high ethical standards in the execution of position responsibilities.

Preferred Work Experience:
• Five (5) years experience in marina operations, including dock management, vessel mooring, and relations with slipholders
• Five (5) years experience in customer service or hospitality fields
• Five (5) years of supervisory experience, including experience managing represented staff
• Brand management experience
Preferred Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
• Associates or Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, Hospitality Management, Public Relations or related field
• Understanding of maritime regulations
• Strong understanding of the recreational boating industry
• Ability to implement customer service initiatives that enhance visitor experience and satisfaction
• Knowledge of public records management and documentation protocols relevant to marina operations
