Ambulatory Surgery Center seeking a full-time, experienced front desk medical receptionist in Port Jefferson Station, NY. The ideal candidate will have: 1). excellent customer service skills, 2). excellent organizational skills, and 3). basic computer skills to include ability to mange and respond to email in a secure environment & proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel. Candidate must be friendly, responsible, outgoing, organized, and willing to learn. Attention to detail and ability to work well under pressure is essential.
Duties (Initial):
- Greets visitors, patients, and guests. Determines purpose of each persons' visit and directs or escorts and directs him/her to appropriate location.
- Answers, screens and transfers phone calls to appropriate staff, takes messages, answers applicable scheduling and administrative questions.
- Preparing new patient paperwork (charts) for date of surgery.
- Checking patients in on date of surgery.
- Manage incoming faxes and appropriately distribute in a timely manner. Fax machine needs to be managed on an hourly basis.
- Perform basic filing and record keeping.
- Performs other incidental and related duties as required and/or assigned.
Additional Duties (after mastering Initial):
- Schedule surgeries received as booking sheets from physician specialty offices (Orthopedic, General Surgery, ENT, Pain Management, Ophthalmology Podiatry)
- Completing and compiling medical record for each patient’s surgical procedure to include scanning of medical record.
- Ability to verify insurance and eligibility for surgical procedure(s). This includes understanding of insurance plans and ability to determine patient responsibility for in-network and out-of-network benefits.
- Responding to Central Business Office requests for medical records and physician queries.
Education/Experience:
- High school or equivalent
