About Us
Port Huron Museum is a small business in Port Huron, MI. We are looking for eligible people to be our dependable and consistent Trolley Drivers for our historical tours around town and for rental parties. While this position offers flexibility and the ability to set your own schedule, we are looking for dedicated drivers.
Our public trolley tours have traditionally run April through December each year, with a break occurring January through March. We are currently looking to expand our trolley season to cover 11 months of the year. During the season, we run over 50 tours and rentals; summer months being the most busy.
Job Summary:
We are seeking reliable and experienced Drivers to join our team as Independent Contractors. As a Trolley Driver, you will be responsible for transporting guests on historical trolley tours narrated by a Museum employee throughout Port Huron and transporting parties to and from event locations. This position offers flexibility and the opportunity to work independently.
Duties:
- Safely and efficiently operate a CDL Class B Trolley with Air Brakes
- Perform pre-trip and post-trip inspections of the trolley
- Light cleaning of trolley as needed
- Provide excellent customer service by ensuring timely arrival/departures and addressing any customer concerns or inquiries
- Complete necessary paperwork and maintain accurate records of trips
- Adhere to all traffic laws and regulations
Qualifications:
- Valid driver's license with a clean driving record
- CDL Class B with air brakes required
- Signing of contract is required
- Previous experience in commercial driving and route driving
- Ability to lift heavy objects and perform physical tasks as required
- Strong communication skills and ability to interact professionally with customers
- Periodic drug and alcohol testing is required
Skills:
- Moving: Ability to safely load, transport, and unload guests
- Customer service: Providing excellent service to customers by ensuring timely arrivals and departures and addressing concerns or inquiries
- Route driving: Experience planning routes and navigating to destinations efficiently
- Commercial driving: Previous experience in commercial driving, adhering to traffic laws and regulations while operating vehicles
