ASSISTANT TRACK & FIELD COACH (Part Time)

DESCRIPTION
Port Angeles High School is seeking a Part-Time Assistant Track Coach for the spring season.
The Assistant Coach will support the Head Coach in all aspects of the track and field
program, including athlete development, practice organization, event-specific coaching, and
supervision of student-athletes. The successful candidate will contribute to a positive,
inclusive team environment that emphasizes sportsmanship, effort, and personal growth.
Responsibilities include assisting with practices and meets, supporting event group training
(e.g., sprints, distance, jumps, throws), and helping ensure compliance with WIAA
regulations and district athletic policies. Assistant coaches are expected to model
professionalism, communicate effectively with students and staff, and support the academic
and personal success of all student-athletes.
QUALIFICATIONS
Previous coaching experience in track and field or related sport preferred
Knowledge of track and field events, techniques, and training principles
Ability to support instruction in one or more event areas (sprints, distance, jumps,
throws, hurdles, relays)
Demonstrated ability to build positive relationships with student-athletes
Strong communication and organizational skills
Ability to work collaboratively with the Head Coach and coaching staff
Commitment to promoting sportsmanship, effort, and team culture
Ability to supervise students and maintain a safe practice and competition
environment
Knowledge of or willingness to learn WIAA rules and regulations
Must meet or be willing to obtain all WIAA coaching certification requirements
Current First Aid/CPR/AED certification, or ability to obtain prior to the season
Ability to maintain student confidentiality and follow district and school policies
Must be willing to complete all district-required safety training
Must be at least 21 years of age
Wages – Depends on experience and education.
