Part-Time Swine Specialist

Requirements

• Responsibility, reliability, timeliness, common sense and excellent attitude.
• Valid driver’s license & reliable transportation
• Ability to pass all random drug screenings
• Able to lift and carry 50 pounds, stand, push, pull, bend, stoop, kneel, squat for extended time on varied surfaces.
• Possess good hand-eye coordination, and arm, hand, and finger dexterity
• Livestock experience preferred
• High School diploma preferred
• Reside within 15 minutes of Galesburg, Abingdon, or Cameron, IL

Job Responsibilities

• Improving farm profitability (which leads to employee profitability) and keeping an excellent attitude.
• Read and interpret room sheets, feeding guides, and nutritionist or veterinarian recommendations.
• Practice safety around animals, equipment, pesticides, and pharmaceuticals.
• Maintain swine health and comfort by walking pens daily, treating health problems, monitoring feeding and watering systems, and maintaining the environment.
• Handle pigs carefully.
• Complete all paperwork and communicate well with management.
• Clean production rooms, including dry cleaning, pressure washing and disinfecting.
• Clean equipment, including fans, alleys, walls, feed pads, mats.
• Perform other duties as a assigned by management or ownership.

Job Hours

• Daily: Generally, 2-3 hours a day. One or two days off weekly, negotiable which day(s). Must be a majority of available Sundays.

Pay is commensurate with experience, proven responsibility, and aptitude.

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: $19.00 - $22.00 per hour
