Boomerangs is looking for a qualified sous chef to run our line during dinner services as well as help with prep work and our scratch made barbecue items.

This is a full time position, for a qualified and experienced kitchen person. Someone comfortable leading the line and being the "driver" during dinner service is a must.

Overview

We are seeking a talented and passionate Sous Chef to join our culinary team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in food production and kitchen management, with experience in fine dining and catering environments. As a Sous Chef, you will play a crucial role in supporting the Head Chef in daily kitchen operations, ensuring high standards of food quality and safety, and leading a team of culinary professionals.

Responsibilities

  • Assist the Head Chef in menu planning and food preparation to ensure timely service.
  • Supervise kitchen staff, providing training and guidance to ensure adherence to recipes and presentation standards.
  • Manage inventory control, including ordering supplies and maintaining stock levels to minimize waste.
  • Oversee food handling practices to comply with health and safety regulations.
  • Coordinate with the dietary department to accommodate special dietary needs for guests.
  • Ensure cleanliness and organization of the kitchen, adhering to food safety standards.
  • Participate in catering events, providing exceptional service and culinary expertise.
  • Contribute to the development of new recipes and menu items that reflect current trends in the food industry.
  • Maintain effective communication with front-of-house staff to ensure seamless service.

Requirements

  • Proven experience as a Sous Chef or similar role within the restaurant or hospitality industry.
  • Strong leadership skills with experience in team management and shift management.
  • Knowledge of food safety regulations and best practices for food handling.
  • Culinary degree or equivalent experience in food production is preferred.
  • Experience with inventory management and control processes.
  • Excellent cooking skills with a passion for creating high-quality dishes.
  • Ability to work efficiently under pressure while maintaining attention to detail.
  • Strong communication skills for effective collaboration with kitchen staff and other departments.
