What are the responsibilities and job description for the Host position at Poppy and Seed?
Summary/Objective:
At Poppy and Seed LLC, the Host oversees the host station and is responsible for greeting and seating all patrons at the restaurant. The host will use the electronic reservation system to track guest reservations, maximize dining room space and ensure waitstaff is notified of incoming seating in their wait stations.
Essential Functions:
- Maintain a professional restaurant image
- Present a friendly and inviting greeting to guests as they arrive at the restaurant.
- Answer phones an input customer reservations, as well as, confirming guest reservations
- Seat customers according to the established plan to assist with fair distribution of tables to servers.
- Keep front desk and waiting area clean and organized
- Refill paper products in bathrooms, as needed
- Assist servers with water, drinks, bread baskets and other items when available or requested
- Follow appropriate food safety guidelines
- Performs other job duties as assigned
Qualifications:
· At least one (1) year of experience in restaurants, hotels, or resorts.
Required Knowledge Skills and Abilities:
· Excellent customer service skills
· Friendly and outgoing personality
· Attention to detail and in order to track reservations
· Ability to work individually and as a team in a fast-paced environment
· Ability to stand for long periods of time
· Must have reliable transportation, be punctual and accountable
This job may require you to occasionally lift up to 55 pounds, frequently lift up to 15-30 pounds. You will frequently be standing for 6 or more hours a day and perform sustained, repetitive, manual and circular motion tasks with your hands and upper extremities on vertical and horizontal surfaces; This position may require repetitive operation of restaurant equipment and tools as well as occasional bending and squatting; You will occasionally be required to safely use cleaning chemicals; This position will include frequent interruptions during a work shift and requires employees to arrive to work on time and as scheduled.

Pay: $15.50 - $20.00 per hour
