Adult Psychiatrist | Sign-On Bonus | Petersburg VA

We are seeking a full-time Adult Inpatient Psychiatrist to join a behavioral health hospital in Petersburg, Virginia. This role offers strong compensation, flexible employment structure, and a fully staffed support team, allowing you to focus on delivering high-quality inpatient psychiatric care while leading a collaborative treatment team.

• Employment Type: Full-Time (Employed or Independent Contractor option)
  • Schedule / Hours: Full-time inpatient schedule
  • Call: Shared call (weeknights by phone; weekend rounding)
  • Patient Volume: Adult and Adolescent inpatient caseload (manageable, team-supported)
  • Location: Petersburg, VA (Richmond metro area)
  • Practice Setting: Inpatient Behavioral Health Hospital (Adult, Military or Adolescent Unit)
  • Support / Care Team: Psychiatrists, APPs, nursing staff, therapists, case managers

Responsibilities

• Provide inpatient psychiatric care to adult and adolescent patients with mental health and substance use disorders
  • Conduct admission evaluations and develop individualized treatment plans
  • Lead multidisciplinary treatment teams to ensure coordinated care
  • Manage daily patient care, including medication management and progress evaluations
  • Participate in on-call coverage and weekend rounding as scheduled
  • Collaborate with physicians, APPs, and clinical support staff
  • Document patient care, treatment plans, and clinical updates

Qualifications

• MD or DO from an accredited medical school
  • Board Certified or Board Eligible in Psychiatry
  • Active or eligible Virginia medical license
  • Minimum of 4 years of training/practice experience
  • Inpatient psychiatry experience preferred
  • Meets credentialing requirements for medical staff
