Pool Construction Branch Manager / Sales & Operations

Location: Fort Myers, FL
Job Type: Full time
Compensation: $30,000 annual base salary plus 20% of branch operating profit after expenses. Enhanced 25% profit share available for an approved qualifying contractor.

About the Opportunity

An established Florida pool construction company is seeking an experienced, entrepreneurial professional to build and lead its Fort Myers operation, serving Lee and Collier counties.

The minimum annual sales expectation is $5 million, with the opportunity to grow substantially beyond that amount. At an average contract value of $150,000, this represents approximately 34 projects annually, or three projects per month.

We are looking for someone who has already demonstrated the ability to produce at this level and wants substantial earning potential tied to the profitability of the operation they build.

You will initially be the primary local representative, responsible for sales, construction management, subcontractor coordination, and client relationships. Our central office will provide administrative, bookkeeping, and estimating support. Additional local staffing will be added as branch cash flow, workload, and profitability support expansion.

Compensation and Earning Potential

This position offers a modest guaranteed base with compensation primarily driven by business results:

  • $2,500 monthly base salary, totaling $30,000 annually.
  • 20% of branch operating profit after agreed expenses, including your base salary.
  • An enhanced total profit share of 25% for a candidate approved to serve as the business’s qualifying contractor under a separate agreement.
  • Uncapped profit-sharing earning potential.
  • Business travel reimbursement or company vehicle arrangement.

Branch expenses include direct construction costs, office expenses, insurance, marketing, employee compensation, payroll costs, and agreed allocations for central office support. Profit sharing is calculated after these expenses and before the profit-sharing payment itself.

For illustration, at $5 million in completed annual revenue and a 15% operating margin after expenses, including base salary but before profit sharing:

  • Standard 20% profit share: $180,000 total annual compensation, including base.
  • Approved qualifying contractor at 25% profit share: $217,500 total annual compensation, including base.

These examples are not guaranteed earnings. Actual compensation depends on construction performance, collections, expenses, and branch profitability. Signed contracts and customer deposits alone do not establish distributable profit.

Eligibility, expense allocations, payment timing, treatment of losses, and reconciliation procedures will be defined in a written compensation agreement. You will have access to the branch financial reporting used to calculate your incentive.

Please review this structure before applying. Candidates must be comfortable with a modest guaranteed base and earnings primarily tied to profitable results.

Responsibilities

Sales and Business Development

  • Personally lead sales toward a minimum annual target of $5 million and pursue opportunities to exceed it.
  • Establish an initial sales ramp plan with company leadership.
  • Respond promptly to company-generated leads and develop additional opportunities.
  • Conduct property visits, homeowner consultations, proposal presentations, and follow-up.
  • Close contracts within approved pricing and profitability requirements.
  • Develop referral relationships with builders, designers, real estate professionals, and other local contacts.
  • Maintain accurate lead activity, proposals, sales forecasts, and follow-up in JobTread.

Construction and Client Management

  • Manage projects from contract signing through completion.
  • Coordinate permitting with central office support.
  • Recruit, evaluate, and coordinate qualified subcontractors.
  • Schedule construction activities, materials, inspections, and jobsite visits.
  • Verify workmanship and resolve construction issues promptly.
  • Provide consistent client updates and realistic schedule expectations.
  • Coordinate milestone collections and keep project spending aligned with approved budgets and available funds.
  • Document scope changes and obtain approvals before additional work proceeds.
  • Manage punch lists, project closeout, and warranty coordination.

Branch Leadership

  • Take responsibility for sales performance, project execution, collections, cost control, and client satisfaction.
  • Build a dependable subcontractor network throughout Lee and Collier counties.
  • Report weekly on sales activity, project schedules, collections, and profitability.
  • Operate within approved budgets, pricing guidelines, and spending authority.
  • Recommend and help recruit additional staff as profitable growth supports expansion.
  • Maintain professional communication and consistent follow-through with clients, subcontractors, and company leadership.

Required Qualifications

  • Verifiable personal sales production of at least $5 million in pool construction contracts within a single 12-month period.
  • Hands-on experience managing pool construction projects through completion.
  • Strong knowledge of estimating, job costing, construction sequencing, subcontractor coordination, and quality control.
  • Demonstrated ability to generate business, close sales, and protect profitability.
  • Ability to work independently and manage competing priorities without daily supervision.
  • Strong communication, negotiation, organization, and problem-solving skills.
  • Valid driver’s license and ability to travel regularly throughout Southwest Florida.

Prior pool company ownership or branch leadership experience is strongly preferred. Established local subcontractor relationships and familiarity with Lee and Collier County permitting are valuable advantages.

Verification of Personal Sales — Required

Applicants must be able to substantiate that they personally closed at least $5 million in pool construction contracts within a single 12-month period.

Company revenue, team sales, projects managed, and proposals that did not become signed contracts do not qualify as personal sales.

Candidates selected for interviews will be required to provide:

  • A summary identifying the sales period, number of signed projects, average contract value, and total personal contract sales.
  • Supporting documentation, such as redacted CRM reports, commission statements, or employer-issued sales reports.
  • A professional reference who directly supervised or reviewed their sales production and can verify their individual role and results. References will be contacted with the candidate’s permission.

Do not submit confidential customer information or proprietary records you are not authorized to share. Redacted records are acceptable, and alternative verification methods may be considered.

If you cannot substantiate the required personal sales production, please do not apply.

Contractor License — Additional Incentive

An active Florida contractor’s license appropriate for the company’s pool construction operations, with eligibility to qualify the business, is strongly preferred but not required.

Candidates approved to assume the qualifying-agent role and its associated supervisory and compliance responsibilities may receive an enhanced total branch profit share of 25%, replacing the standard 20% share.

The enhanced incentive begins when the qualifying-agent appointment becomes effective, subject to a separate written agreement defining responsibilities, authority, and compensation terms.

Schedule and Commitment

This is a field-based leadership role requiring substantial personal involvement in building the operation.

Availability for evening sales appointments, scheduled weekend consultations, and urgent construction issues is required. You will be expected to organize your schedule around sales opportunities and project needs while maintaining consistent communication and follow-through.

Performance Expectations

An initial 90-day plan will establish measurable expectations for pipeline development, appointments, proposals, follow-up, subcontractor readiness, and project execution.

Performance will be reviewed against sales results, project margins, collections, construction progress, and client communication. The objective is to build an operation producing at least $5 million in annual contracted sales and continue growing profitably.

How to Apply

Submit your résumé and answers to the following:

  • What was your highest personal annual pool construction sales volume, and during which 12-month period?
  • How many projects did you personally sell, and what was the average contract value?
  • What percentage of your sales came from company-generated leads versus opportunities you generated?
  • How can you substantiate your personal sales results?
  • What responsibility did you have for construction management, job costs, collections, and profitability?
  • What experience and subcontractor relationships do you have in Southwest Florida?
  • Do you hold an active Florida contractor’s license? If so, provide the license type and number and indicate whether you would consider qualifying the business.
  • Are you comfortable with a $30,000 annual base salary and incentive compensation based on branch operating profit?

Please apply only if you meet the personal sales requirement and are comfortable with the compensation structure. Applications that do not address the required qualifications and screening questions will not be considered.

Pay: From $30,000.00 per year
