The Details of the Position
Title: Server Assistant
Job Type: Part-Time / Variable Hour
Schedule: Weeknights (PM), Weekends (PM)
Work location: Poogan’s Southern Kitchen
Responsibilities (include the following and other responsibilities that may be assigned as needed):
- Set tables with clean linens, condiments, or other supplies
- Promptly greet guests as they are seated and serve ice water, coffee, and biscuits to guests
- Obtain and deliver items requested by guests
- Serve food to guests when servers need assistance
- Scrape and stack used dishes and carry dishes and other tableware to kitchens for cleaning
- Thank guests as they leave
- Clear and clean tables, chairs, booths, and floors after guests’ departures
- Maintain adequate supplies of items such as condiments, clean linens, silverware, glassware, dishes, or trays
- Clean counters, shelves, walls, furniture, or equipment in food service areas or other areas of the restaurant, and mop or vacuum floors as needed
- Fill beverage or ice dispensers
- Communicate with server and host or hostess to expedite efficient seating, table utilization, and customer service
- Inspect assigned restroom every 30 minutes and clean as needed
- Attend all scheduled employee meetings and offer any suggestions for improvement.
What You Bring to the Table
Your experience: 1 year of restaurant experience is preferred, but we will train the right candidate
Your education level: High school diploma or equivalent
Your abilities, skills, and traits:
- Demonstrate excellent customer service and conflict resolution skills
- Possess a working knowledge of service standards and food preparation
- Have experience with point-of-sale systems
- Have ability to read, count, and write
- Work well under pressure and maintain fast, efficient service
- Exhibit a positive and friendly demeanor to guests and team members
- Be dependable and punctual
- Be able to stand for duration of shift, climb stairs, and lift and move heavy items
