What are the responsibilities and job description for the Area Operations & Delivery Team Lead (Driver) position at Ponza Logistics?
Ponza Logistics runs last-mile cold-chain delivery operations. We're hiring an Area Operations & Delivery Team Lead to own a delivery location end to end — operations, team and fleet.
This is a hands-on role. You'll drive delivery routes at least 5 shifts a week while leading your team, holding drivers accountable, and running the day-to-day. You are the first point of contact for everything at your location.
Operations
- Build and manage daily routing so every scheduled delivery is covered and completed
- Own location KPIs, with on-time percentage as the top priority
- Keep early deliveries within threshold and eliminate false scans
- Coordinate with the middle-mile team so inbound trucks arrive on time
- Drive adoption of company technology tools
Team
- Make sure the team follows loading, unloading, escalation, and communication protocols
- Own team morale, training, and day-to-day performance
- Hold drivers accountable A to Z — punctuality, delivery speed, scan accuracy, protocol compliance
- Authority to discipline drivers who fall short, following a progressive process
Fleet
- Manage vehicle and equipment maintenance for your area
- Keep vehicles ready and available to meet daily route requirements
Schedule
- On-site 6 days a week
- Personally deliver a minimum of 5 shifts per week
Ideal background
You know how to command respect and hold a team accountable. Backgrounds that fit well include military, law enforcement, fire/EMS, or other structured, high-accountability environments. What matters most is the ability to assert authority, enforce standards, and stay composed under pressure.
Requirements
- Experience in last-mile logistics, delivery operations, or field supervision
- Valid driver's license and clean driving record
- Clear, direct communication
- Comfort with delivery metrics (on-time %, scan compliance)
- Bilingual (English/Spanish) a plus
Compensation: base pay plus tips, paid in addition to base.
Pay: $22.00 - $27.00 per hour
