Job Description:
1. Receive incoming specimens from various sources and verify accompanying documentation. Label specimens accurately with unique identifiers and enter relevant information into the laboratory information management system (LIMS).
Ensure proper handling, storage, and disposal of specimens according to established protocols. Prepare specimens for analysis by centrifuging, aliquoting, or other pre-analytical processes as required. Communicate with healthcare providers, couriers, and other laboratory staff to resolve any discrepancies or issues with specimen collection
2. Perform complex molecular biology tests and analyses on biological samples using techniques such as PCR, DNA sequencing, and gene expression analysis.
3. Operate and maintain specialized laboratory equipment for molecular testing.
4. Prepare samples for molecular analysis following established protocols and procedures.
5. Conduct quality control procedures to ensure the accuracy and reliability of test results.
6. Interpret and report molecular test results accurately and promptly.
7. Maintain detailed records of tests performed and results obtained.
8. Stay current with advances in molecular biology testing methodologies and technologies.
9. Collaborate with other healthcare professionals and researchers to provide accurate and timely molecular test results for patient care and scientific research.
10. Follow strict safety protocols and procedures to ensure a safe working environment in the molecular laboratory.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Molecular Biology, Biology, Biotechnology, Medical Laboratory Science, or a related field.
- Certification as a Technologist in Molecular Biology (MB), Medical Laboratory Technologist (MLT) or Clinical Laboratory Technologist (CLT) by ASCP, AAB or AMT is preferred but not required.
- Previous experience working in a molecular biology laboratory setting.
- Strong knowledge of molecular biology techniques, equipment, and safety protocols.
- Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
- Strong communication skills for interacting with colleagues, healthcare professionals, and researchers.
- Ability to handle and analyze complex molecular data.
- Proficiency in data analysis software commonly used in molecular biology.
Pay: From $25.00 per hour
