We are seeking a skilled Heavy Duty Diesel Mechanic / Fleet Technician to join our team. This role is responsible for diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining electric, diesel, and gasoline-powered industrial trucks, fleet vehicles, and equipment. The ideal candidate has hands-on experience with medium- to heavy-duty vehicles and is committed to safety, accuracy, and efficiency.
What You'll Do
- Diagnose and repair heavy-duty trucks, fleet vehicles, and equipment
- Perform preventative maintenance (PM) on tractors and trailers
- Conduct fuel system and electrical diagnostics and complete repairs
- Perform oil changes and general cab & chassis maintenance
- Maintain and repair light-duty vehicles and equipment, including:
- Pickup trucks
- Trailers and towable equipment
- Diesel, gas, and electric pumps
- Roll-off bins, storage tanks, and specialty equipment
- Complete California BIT inspections (90-day) and Federal USDOT inspections
- Accurately complete and submit work orders and maintenance documentation
- Communicate with drivers regarding DVIR (Driver Vehicle Inspection Reports)
- Maintain a clean and safe shop environment in accordance with company SOPs
- Perform additional duties as assigned
- Shop-based role with hands-on mechanical work
- Exposure to heavy equipment, tools, and varying environmental conditions
- Must follow all safety protocols and company procedures
What You Bring
- High School Diploma or GED (some college preferred)
- Valid California Driver’s License with a clean DMV record
- Minimum 2 years of mechanical experience with heavy-duty vehicles/equipment
- Strong knowledge of:
- Diesel engines and fleet maintenance
- Air brake systems and basic hydraulics
- Electrical and fuel system diagnostics
- Experience with preventative maintenance programs
- Welding experience is a plus
- Proficiency with computer systems and Microsoft Office Suite
- Familiarity with:
- ADP Payroll systems
- Cummins, Kenworth, and Snap-On diagnostic software
- Ability to work afternoon shift (Monday–Friday)
- Willingness to work overtime and occasional weekends
- Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, regulations, and procedures
- Strong documentation and report writing skills
- Effective communication with team members, drivers, and management
- Basic math skills (measurements, calculations, geometry, etc.)
- Strong problem-solving skills with ability to handle multiple variables
- Ability to follow written, verbal, and diagram-based instructions
