Week 2: Thur-Sat 8 PM ET - 8 AM ET
Network Engineer
This role supports network operations by assisting in incident recovery, implementing routine network changes, and ensuring adherence to configuration standards. The Junior Network Engineer will work under the guidance of senior engineers and Operations Engineering teams, applying foundational knowledge of routing, switching, and load-balancing technologies. This role contributes to maintaining reliable network services and gaining hands-on experience in enterprise-scale environments.
Primary Job Functions
Technical Support & Operations
- Assist in the delivery and operational support of enterprise network services.
- Help perform initial troubleshooting steps during network incidents and escalate appropriately.
- Support basic network changes following approved standards and procedures.
- Participate in maintaining documentation related to configurations, standards, and procedures.
Vendor & Partner Collaboration
- Work with service providers to ensure tasks are completed with expected quality and adherence to operational processes.
- Participate in knowledge transfer sessions with senior engineers and external partners.
Process Support
- Assist in documenting operational procedures and identifying areas for improvement.
- Help analyze existing processes and contribute suggestions for enhancing availability and maintainability of network services.
Education / Experience
Preferred Qualifications
- Working toward (or possessing) an associate-level certification such as:
- CCNA
- Entry-level vendor certifications (F5, Juniper JNCIA, etc.
Experience
- 1β2 years of hands-on experience in network operations & troubleshooting
- Familiarity with:
- Fundamental networking concepts (LAN/WAN, TCP/IP, VLANs, subnets, routing basics).
- Load-balancing concepts and common enterprise networking technologies.
- Exposure to major routing protocols (e.g., OSPF, BGP, ISIS) through professional experience.
- Basic familiarity with network monitoring or diagnostic tools (e.g. Wireshark, NMAP, SolarWinds, Forward Networks, etc.).
Position Requirements
- Foundational understanding of common network hardware and technologies (switches, routers, firewalls, cabling, fiber, etc.).
- Ability to learn quickly in a fast-paced environment and apply new knowledge to operational tasks.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to work alongside technical and non-technical teams.
- Ability to perform basic troubleshooting and escalate complex issues to senior team members.
- Interest in developing deeper technical capabilities in routing, switching, and emerging technologies.
Salary : $40 - $45
