Senior Accountant
Polymer Chemistry Innovations is a growing specialty chemical manufacturer looking for a Senior Accountant to join our team in Tucson, AZ. The Senior Accountant will be responsible for maintaining the integrity of the company's financial information while supporting operational and strategic decision-making through accurate reporting, cost accounting, inventory analysis, and continuous improvement of accounting systems and internal controls. This position works closely with Operations, Supply Chain, and Leadership to ensure financial data accurately reflects the performance of the business.

Essential Functions Will Include:
Financial Reporting & General Accounting
- Lead month-end and year-end close processes, including journal entries, accruals, and account reconciliations.
- Prepare and review monthly financial statements and supporting schedules to ensure accuracy and compliance with GAAP.
- Maintain the general ledger and supporting accounting records.
- Assist with external audits and provide supporting documentation as needed.
Cost Accounting & Manufacturing Analysis
- Prepare and analyze cost reports related to materials, labor, and manufacturing overhead.
- Monitor inventory valuation and reconcile cost discrepancies.
- Conduct manufacturing variance analysis and investigate significant cost fluctuations.
- Assist with budgeting and forecasting using historical cost trends and production data.
- Identify cost-saving opportunities and provide financial analysis to support operational improvements.
Inventory & ERP Management
- Maintain cost accounting systems and ensure the integrity of manufacturing and inventory data.
- Work closely with Operations, Production, and Supply Chain to ensure inventory transactions accurately reflect manufacturing activity.
- Support physical inventory counts and inventory reconciliation efforts.
- Review standard costs, inventory movements, and manufacturing transactions for accuracy.
Financial Analysis & Business Support
- Prepare reports and analyses to support pricing decisions, product profitability, and overall business performance.
- Develop financial reporting tools and dashboards that improve management visibility into business performance.
- Partner with department leaders to provide financial insight and support informed decision-making.
Systems & Continuous Improvement
- Develop, document, and continuously improve accounting procedures, internal controls, and financial reporting processes.
- Recommend and implement improvements that strengthen data accuracy, reporting efficiency, and financial visibility.
- Stay current on accounting standards, cost accounting practices, and manufacturing industry best practices.
Job Requirements:
- Strong understanding of GAAP, cost accounting, and manufacturing accounting principles.
- Exceptional attention to detail and commitment to data accuracy.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and consistently meet deadlines.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
- Experience working with ERP systems (Acumatica experience is a plus).
- Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively across departments.
- Continuous improvement mindset with a desire to strengthen systems and processes.
Education & Experience:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance required.
- 5 years of progressive accounting experience, including manufacturing and cost accounting.
- Experience with inventory accounting and ERP systems required.
- Experience in a manufacturing environment strongly preferred.
Pay: Up to $80,000.00 per year
