Position Summary
Poly Seal is seeking a hands-on Operations Manager to lead the day-to-day operations of our industrial coatings and spray foam business.
This is not a sit-behind-a-desk management role. We are a growing, hardworking company that needs a leader willing to jump in wherever needed—whether that means solving field issues, helping crews on a jobsite, unloading materials, troubleshooting equipment, meeting contractors, or helping drive business growth.
The Operations Manager is responsible for coordinating crews, equipment, scheduling, materials, job execution, job profitability, overall operational financial performance, and helping grow the business through contractor relationships and business development.
The right person is organized, decisive, highly accountable, customer-focused, comfortable getting their hands dirty, and understands how to build relationships that create work while protecting profitability.
Key ResponsibilitiesDaily Operations Leadership
- Oversee daily operations for industrial coatings and spray foam projects
- Coordinate labor, equipment, materials, and scheduling to keep projects moving efficiently
- Ensure jobs are properly staffed, prepared, and executed on time
- Work directly with ownership, office staff, and field teams to solve operational challenges
- Step in wherever needed to support production and keep operations running smoothly
- Improve systems, workflows, and overall operational efficiency
Contractor Sales & Business Development
- Develop and maintain relationships with general contractors, builders, facility managers, industrial clients, and referral partners
- Actively pursue new business opportunities for industrial coatings, spray foam, and related specialty services
- Meet with contractors, project managers, property owners, and decision-makers to identify project opportunities
- Conduct job walks, site visits, and customer meetings to help secure work
- Assist with estimating, scope reviews, and proposal follow-up as needed
- Help grow Poly Seal’s contractor network and market presence
- Maintain strong communication with existing customers to drive repeat business and referrals
- Represent Poly Seal professionally in the field, industry events, and business development opportunities
- Identify upcoming projects and proactively position Poly Seal for bid opportunities
- Work with ownership to develop practical sales strategies for sustained growth
Marketing & Brand Growth
- Help drive practical marketing efforts that generate leads and increase company visibility
- Work with ownership on branding, outreach, referral development, social media, and relationship marketing
- Identify marketing opportunities that make sense for a growing blue-collar service business
- Ensure Poly Seal’s trucks, trailers, equipment, job sites, and customer interactions reflect a professional brand image
Hands-On Field Support
- Regularly visit active job sites to support crews and ensure quality execution
- Assist in the field when operational needs require it
- Troubleshoot jobsite issues, equipment breakdowns, manpower challenges, or scheduling conflicts
- Help load/unload materials, organize equipment, and support production when needed
- Lead by example with work ethic, urgency, and professionalism
Team Leadership
- Lead and support field crews, foremen, and production staff
- Set expectations and hold team members accountable
- Train, coach, and develop team members
- Assist with hiring and building strong crews
- Help create a positive, hardworking, accountable team culture
Scheduling & Project Execution
- Coordinate project scheduling and manpower planning
- Ensure crews have the right equipment, materials, and information before mobilizing
- Oversee project execution for quality, efficiency, profitability, and customer satisfaction
- Communicate with customers, contractors, and internal teams as needed
- Resolve project issues quickly and professionally
Equipment, Fleet & Warehouse
- Oversee maintenance and readiness of spray foam rigs, coating equipment, trailers, tools, and vehicles
- Help manage repairs and minimize downtime
- Maintain a clean, organized, and professional warehouse/shop
- Ensure equipment is ready and crews are set up for success
Safety & Compliance
- Enforce safety standards, PPE requirements, and jobsite expectations
- Conduct safety meetings and spot checks
- Ensure crews operate safely and professionally
- Maintain compliance with company and jobsite safety requirements
Financial Performance & Profitability
- Monitor job profitability from startup through completion
- Review labor, material, equipment, subcontractor, and overhead costs against budgets
- Identify profit leaks, inefficiencies, waste, and cost overruns
- Protect gross margins through strong execution and operational discipline
- Review completed jobs for performance, profitability, and lessons learned
- Track labor efficiency, production metrics, and operational KPIs
- Work with ownership to improve operational systems that drive stronger company profitability
- Assist with pricing feedback, production budgeting, and execution planning
- Help ensure project documentation, billing milestones, and change orders support profitability
- Monitor overall operational financial performance—not just individual jobs
- Participate in financial reviews with ownership to understand company performance and improvement opportunities
Qualifications
- 3 years of leadership experience in construction, coatings, spray foam, specialty trades, or related field
- Strong understanding of field operations, project execution, and production management
- Experience selling to contractors, industrial clients, or commercial customers preferred
- Strong understanding of job costing, margins, and operational financial accountability
- Ability to build relationships and identify business opportunities
- Willingness to work both in management and hands-on operational support roles
- Experience managing crews, schedules, equipment, and multiple moving parts
- Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills
- Ability to stay calm under pressure and adapt quickly
- Strong communication and leadership skills
- Basic computer/software proficiency
- Clean driving record preferred
