Merit Professional Coatings (MPC) is seeking an experienced Project Manager to lead commercial painting and wallcovering projects, from pre-construction through closeout. This role requires a results-driven professional with a strong background in project execution and team leadership.
This Project Manager will be responsible for delivering projects with a consistent focus on safety, cost, quality, and schedule adherence.

Key Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain customer relationships
- Lead coordination between field teams, subcontractors, and vendors
- Manage multiple projects concurrently
- Monitor job costs, forecasting, and manpower planning
- Review & understand plans, specifications, and tech data to effectively communicate
- Set performance expectation, monitor production, safety, and quality standards
- Identify and proactively mitigate project risks and issues
- Ensure compliance with safety standards, contract requirements, and company policies
Critical Skills/Requirements:
- 5 years of project management experience in commercial coatings, or related industry trade
- Familiarity with industry standards for maintaining quality and certifications
- Strong leadership and interpersonal skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Demonstrated success managing project budgets and schedules
- Ability to manage multiple projects with competing priorities
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel) Onscreen Takeoff, as well as scheduling, project management and financial tracking tools
- Strong problem-solving, decision-making and organization aptitude
- Competent in conflict resolution for emerging issues
Preferred Attributes
- Degree in Construction Management or related field (preferred but not required)
- Experience in commercial or industrial coatings
- Proven ability to lead teams and drive accountability
- High level of professionalism and attention to detail
- Estimating experience is a plus
- Bilingual (English/Spanish) is a plus
Administrative Prerequisite
- Ability to pass a pre-employment drug screening
- Valid driver’s license with insurable driving record
- Ability to pass background checks for access to regulated job sites (schools, healthcare facilities, etc.)
- Willingness to work in both office and field environments, including use of appropriate PPE
Compensation & Benefits
- Salary Range: $75,000 – $100,000 annually
- Performance-Based Bonus: Bonus is tied to project profitability and key performance indicators, including gross margin performance, cost control, schedule adherence, and client satisfaction. Bonuses are evaluated annually and are based on the financial success of the projects managed by the PM.
