What are the responsibilities and job description for the Sheetmetal Journeyman position at Polk?
As a Sheet Metal Mechanic at Polk, you’ll play a key role in fabricating and installing high-quality ductwork and sheet metal systems that power some of the most complex commercial and industrial projects in Texas.
Key Responsibilities:
- Set up and operate fabricating machines such as shears, brakes, bending rolls, and punch/drill presses
- Cut, bend, and straighten sheet metal to precise specifications
- Assemble ductwork and sheet metal components using spot welders, hand tools, and power tools
- Install duct systems and sheet metal assemblies on-site according to blueprints and project specifications
- Install air-moving equipment including air handlers, heat pumps, exhaust fans, and unit heaters
- Inspect and test completed installations to ensure quality and compliance with project requirements
What We’re Looking For:
- 5 years of experience in sheet metal work within the mechanical/HVAC industry
- Strong understanding of basic math and mechanical principles
- Skilled in working with tools, metals, and fabrication machinery
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, and visualize 3D objects from 2D drawings
- High attention to detail and commitment to precision and quality
- Adaptable and capable of performing a variety of tasks in a dynamic work environment
