The Sheetmetal Mechanic will fabricate, assemble, install and repair sheet metal products and equipment, such as ductwork, plenums, air devices, louvers and air moving equipment.
WHAT YOU’LL BRING
Skills & Competencies
- Set up and operate fabricating machines, such as shears, brakes, bending rolls, and punch and drill presses to cut, bend, and straighten sheet metal
- Use spot welders, hand-held power tools, air hammers and hand tools to assemble duct work and other sheet metal assemblies
- Install duct work and sheet metal assemblies on work site according to blue prints and specifications using hand tools and portable power tools
- Install air moving equipment, such as air handlers, heat pumps, exhaust fans, and unit heaters
- Inspect and test installations for conformance with the project requirements
Qualifications
- Prior experience with sheetmetal work in the mechanical/HVAC industry
- Understand basic math
- Work skillfully with tools, metals, and machines
- Have one year of sheetmetal experience in the commercial industry
- Visualize three-dimensional objects from drawings, sketches, or blueprints
- Work within precise limits and standards of accuracy
- Perform a variety of duties which may change often; and rate information using measurable standards
*OSHA-10 certification is required. If you currently do not possess an OSHA-10, we will give you the opportunity to take the course prior to your employment.*
