Position Overview:
The Sheetmetal Foreman is responsible for leading a team of three or more tradespeople in the performance of sheetmetal installation and fabrication. This role requires a deep understanding of the sheetmetal trade and hands-on experience, as well as leadership skills to effectively guide and support the crew. The foreman will perform both supervisory and regular labor work and be responsible for ensuring that project deadlines, safety standards, and quality expectations are met.
Key Responsibilities:
- Relay instructions from supervisors and assign immediate tasks to team members
- Work alongside team members and set the pace of work
- Demonstrate correct and efficient work methods
- Ensure availability of blueprints, plans, materials, and tools
- Coordinate with supervisors to resolve issues and obtain necessary decisions
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of policies, procedures, and directives
- Monitor crew activity and ensure consistent workflow
- Inspect work in progress and upon completion to ensure quality and compliance with plans
- Promote and enforce adherence to safety and housekeeping standards
- Report progress, delays, and job status to superintendents and project managers
- Provide feedback to supervisors on operational challenges and team performance
Qualifications:
- Minimum 3 years of verifiable experience in the sheetmetal trade
- Extensive knowledge of sheetmetal systems, codes, blueprints, and specifications
- Familiarity with blueprints of other major construction trades
- Proven ability to lead and supervise multiple employees
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Strong organizational and project scheduling capabilities
- Keen attention to detail and commitment to excellence
