Veterinary Technician

Polk City Veterinary Hospital has an immediate need for a Registered Veterinary Technician or a Veterinary Technician with prior experience of 5 years in the field.

About Us:

Polk City Veterinary Hospital, a companion animal clinic, has proudly served the Polk City and surrounding communities since 1997. In addition to Dr. Robert Comito, owner, we have two part-time veterinarians, two veterinary technicians, one veterinary assistant, and two receptionists. We perform x-rays, surgeries, dentistry, and preventive medicine.

Our clinic’s hours are 9-5 Tuesday-Friday, 8-noon on Saturdays (closed Sundays and Mondays).

Our team provides compassionate care and excellent customer service. Our customers appreciate that we have long-time employees and low staff turnover.

Schedule:

36-40 hours a week (must be able to work Tuesdays-Fridays and Saturday mornings)

Compensation:

Starting range is determined by experience

Position Responsibilities:

· Administer medications, vaccinations, and other prescribed treatments

· Client education and communication

· Collaborate with veterinarians, fellow veterinary technicians, and support staff to ensure seamless patient care

· Collecting patient histories and performing physical exams

· Dentals

· IVC placement and venipuncture

· Maintain patient records

· Participate in training sessions

· Perform and assist with x-rays, laboratory tests, and other diagnostic procedures

· Surgery Prep, monitoring anesthesia and postoperative care of the patient (recovery)

· Inventory management (cat and dog food, medical supplies)

· Because we are a small practice, no task is outside the realm of possibility (everyone pitches in as needed).
