Job Overview
We are seeking a skilled and experienced Lead Carpenter to oversee and coordinate general build and remodel projects. The ideal candidate will possess knowledge in various aspects of construction, carpentry, and maintenance. This role involves working independently to owner specifications in an off-grid environment, occasionally instructing one or two laborers. The Lead Carpenter will play a critical role in delivering high-quality craftsmanship while adhering to project timelines and specifications.
This position is expected to run from end of March through October and is a recurring seasonal position for the right individual.
Duties
- Work independently on building and remodeling projects on-site.
- Effective and safe use of hand tools, power tools, etc.
- Manage a wide variety of tasks including framing, trim carpentry, drywall installation, flooring, and some finish carpentry, etc.
- Ensure safety protocols are followed at all times to maintain a secure work environment.
- Coordinate with owner and in town vendors and project managers to meet project specifications and deadlines.
- Assist in estimating project costs and materials when necessary.
Requirements
- 5 years experience in carpentry, with the ability to lead a project solo.
- Extensive hands-on experience with hand tools, power tools, etc.
- Excellent problem-solving skills with the ability to adapt to changing project requirements.
- Physical capability for heavy lifting and working at heights or confined spaces as needed.
- Prior experience working on construction or build sites.
- Relevant certifications or licenses related to construction trades are advantageous but not mandatory.
