What You Will Do
Required
The successful candidate will be responsible for applying the principles of soil mechanics to the design and construction of civil engineering projects. This role involves the supervision of field sampling activities, installation of geotechnical instrumentation, field and laboratory data analysis, computational modeling, developing engineering recommendations, report preparation, assess and problem-solve construction issues, and client communication. Specific tasks required of this position include but are not limited to:
- Site investigation: Plan, organize, and oversee field studies, including soil and rock drilling and sampling, in-situ testing, and groundwater monitoring.
- Laboratory analysis: Coordinate and review laboratory testing of soil and rock samples to determine engineering properties such as strength, permeability, and physical characteristics.
- Engineering analysis and design: Conduct complex geotechnical analyses and use specialized software to evaluate bearing capacity, settlement, slope stability, and lateral earth pressures.
- Technical reporting: Prepare comprehensive geotechnical reports, proposals, and design specifications that summarize findings and provide recommendations to clients, contractors, and regulatory agencies.
- Construction support: Provide on-site engineering support during construction to monitor earthworks, verify compliance with design specifications, and address any unforeseen geotechnical issues that may arise.
- Project management: Develop project budgets, timelines, and scope.
- Collaboration: Work closely with other engineers (civil, structural, environmental), architects, and project stakeholders to ensure geotechnical considerations are integrated into the overall project design.
What You Have
- Either have or be capable of obtaining (preferably within 2 years) a Wisconsin License P.E. with an emphasis on Geotechnical.
- 3 to 10 Years experience in the Geotechnical Field
- Ability to use Microsoft Applications (Word, Excel, etc.)
- Familiar with geotechnical engineering software
