Responsibilities
- Design and implement engaging piano lesson plans that cater to diverse skill levels, from beginners to more advanced students
- Conduct individual and group piano classes, ensuring each student receives personalized attention and encouragement
- Manage classroom activities effectively, maintaining a positive environment that promotes respect, focus, and enthusiasm
- Incorporate various teaching methods such as curriculum development, lesson planning, and creative exercises to enhance learning experiences
- Support students’ overall development by integrating elements of childhood development, behavior management, and classroom experience into your teaching approach
- Organize performance opportunities or mini-recitals to showcase student progress and boost confidence
- Collaborate with camp staff to integrate musical activities with other camp programs like theater or dance when appropriate
Experience
- Proven experience in teaching piano or similar musical instruments, with a strong background in curriculum development and lesson planning
- Prior classroom management skills with the ability to work effectively with children and young learners of varying ages
- Experience working with students in early childhood education or preschool settings is highly desirable
- Knowledge of special education strategies and behavior management techniques to support diverse learning needs
- Familiarity with integrating arts such as theater or dance into music instruction is a plus
- Demonstrated ability to foster a positive learning environment through patience, creativity, and strong communication skills
- Previous experience in tutoring or working with children in extracurricular settings is preferred
