Duties
- Greet patients warmly and verify their insurance coverage through insurance verification processes using Dentrix Ascend.
- Review and update patient medical records, ensuring accuracy and compliance with HIPAA regulations.
- Coordinate appointment scheduling, rescheduling, and follow-up care using multi-line phone systems and Dentrix Ascend.
- Assist patients with understanding their treatment plans, including explaining procedures, costs, and insurance benefits clearly and confidently.
- Prepare and review documentation such as treatment plans for billing accuracy.
- Facilitate communication between dental providers, insurance companies, and patients to ensure seamless treatment authorization and financial arrangements.
- Maintain meticulous records of patient interactions, treatment notes, billing information, and correspondence in compliance with HIPAA standards.
- Support administrative tasks such as filing medical records, managing office supplies, handling phone etiquette professionally, and performing clerical duties with proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
Requirements
- Proven experience in a dental office with familiarity in dental terminology and dentall billing practices.
- Strong knowledge of EMR/EHR systems including Epic, Meditech, Dentrix, Eaglesoft, Athenahealth or eClinicalWorks.
- Expertise in insurance verification processes and documentation review.
- Excellent communication skills with bilingual abilities highly preferred to serve diverse patient populations effectively.
- Demonstrated proficiency in computer skills such as typing (including 10-key), data entry, filing electronic records, and managing multi-line phone systems.
- Ability to handle sensitive patient information with discretion while adhering to HIPAA guidelines.
- Prior dental office experience is highly desirable; familiarity with dental terminology and office management is a plus.
- Strong organizational skills with attention to detail in documentation review and medical administrative support tasks.
- Customer service orientation combined with professional phone etiquette to create positive patient interactions.
