What are the responsibilities and job description for the Dyslexia Interventionist (Certified) position at Pocahontas Elementary School?
The Certified Dyslexia Interventionist provides targeted, evidence-based reading interventions to students identified as at risk for reading failure. This position focuses on early literacy development. The interventionist collaborates with classroom teachers, special education staff, and families to support student growth and ensure early reading success.
Qualifications
? Valid state teaching certification in Elementary Education (K–6 or appropriate grade span)
? Endorsement or training in reading instruction (e.g., dyslexia certification, reading specialist preferred)
? Knowledge of the Science of Reading and evidence-based literacy practices
? Experience working with early childhood or elementary students
? Strong understanding of universal screening tools and progress monitoring
? Ability to analyze student data and adjust instruction accordingly
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
? Provide small-group and/or one-on-one reading interventions to elementary students identified as at risk for reading failure
? Implement research-based instructional strategies aligned with the Science of Reading
? Conduct and interpret screening and progress monitoring assessments
? Use data to develop and adjust intervention plans to meet individual student needs
? Collaborate with general education teachers to align instruction and support classroom learning
? Maintain accurate records of student progress and intervention outcomes
? Communicate regularly with teachers, administrators, and families regarding student progress
? Support development of individualized plans for students as needed (e.g., intervention plans, referrals)
? Participate in professional development related to early literacy and intervention strategies
