Maintenance Laborer

Putnam Northern Westchester BOCES anticipates a full-time opening for a Maintenance Laborer.

Candidate will perform a variety of routine tasks required in the maintenance of school district grounds.

Tasks may include but are not limited to:

• mowing, reseeding, rolling and fertilizing lawns;
• trimming hedges, trees and shrubs;
• raking leaves and hauling away rubbish;
• shoveling or plowing snow and ice;
• cleaning gutters and catch basins;
• performing miscellaneous routine maintenance and repair tasks inside school buildings during inclement
• weather and winter months.
• Candidate will operate a variety of grounds maintenance equipment. Duties may include other tasks such as
• moving furniture, setting up for events, directing on campus traffic, cleaning equipment, and assisting in building and equipment maintenance and repair.

Hours for this position are Tuesday-Saturday, 7:00am-3:00pm.

Must be able to follow oral instructions; get along with others; perform routine manual work; and read, write, speak, understand and communicate in English sufficiently to perform duties of the position. Physical condition must be commensurate with the duties of the position. Must have physical endurance and agility and be industrious in work performance. Must hold a valid driver’s license to operate a motor vehicle in New York State.
