Job Summary
We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Accountant / Bookkeeper to join our finance team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for managing financial records, preparing accurate financial reports, and ensuring compliance with accounting standards. This role requires proficiency in various accounting software and a solid understanding of GAAP principles, with experience in both corporate and non-profit accounting environments. The successful candidate will play a vital role in maintaining the integrity of our financial data and supporting strategic decision-making processes.
Responsibilities
- Maintain and update general ledger accounts using accounting software such as QuickBooks
- Perform balance sheet reconciliation and account analysis to ensure accuracy of financial data
- Prepare journal entries, including debits & credits, and ensure proper documentation for audit purposes
- Manage accounts payable and accounts receivable processes efficiently
- Conduct bank reconciliations regularly to verify cash balances and detect discrepancies
- Assist with budgeting, financial report writing, and financial statement preparation in accordance with GAAP standards
- Handle payroll processing and related tax filings with accuracy and timeliness
- Ensure compliance with governmental accounting standards and regulations for non-profit or public sector clients if applicable
- Support internal audits by providing necessary documentation and explanations for account activities
- Utilize technical accounting knowledge to analyze complex transactions and improve bookkeeping procedures
Qualifications
- Proven experience with accounting software such as QuickBooks or similar platforms
- Strong understanding of GAAP, double entry bookkeeping, general ledger accounting, and financial concepts
- Experience in corporate accounting, non-profit accounting, or governmental accounting environments preferred
- Ability to perform account reconciliation, bank reconciliation, and account analysis accurately
- Knowledge of tax regulations related to payroll, income taxes, and other financial obligations
- Excellent organizational skills with attention to detail; proficiency in 10 key typing is advantageous
- Strong analytical skills for financial report writing and account analysis tasks
- Effective communication skills for preparing clear financial reports and collaborating with team members
