Ambient Recruiting is partnering with a growing Northern Michigan manufacturer to hire an experienced Shipping & Receiving Specialist. This position plays a vital role in keeping production running by managing incoming materials, preparing outbound shipments, maintaining inventory accuracy, and processing product returns.

What You'll Be Doing

As a Shipping & Receiving Specialist, you'll:

• Receive incoming shipments and verify contents against purchase orders and packing slips
• Inspect incoming materials for damage, defects, and specification compliance
• Load, unload, stage, and organize incoming and outgoing freight
• Prepare, package, and label outbound shipments
• Generate shipping documentation and freight carrier paperwork
• Schedule carrier pickups and monitor shipments through delivery
• Maintain organized warehouse inventory and replenish storage locations
• Process Returned Merchandise Authorizations (RMA) and returned products
• Inspect returned merchandise, document findings, and coordinate repairs, replacements, or restocking
• Maintain accurate inventory records using barcode scanners and inventory software
• Follow workplace safety procedures and maintain documentation for reporting and audits
• Support overall warehouse organization and continuous improvement initiatives

What We're Looking For

Successful candidates typically have:

• Associate degree or equivalent combination of education and experience
• 3 to 5 years of warehouse, shipping & receiving, inventory control, or related experience
• Strong organizational skills and exceptional attention to detail
• Experience using ERP systems and Microsoft Excel
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to work independently while supporting a collaborative team environment
• Reliable attendance and strong work ethic
• Ability to regularly lift up to 40 pounds and occasionally lift up to 100 pounds with appropriate equipment or assistance
• Comfortable standing and walking throughout the workday

Preferred Qualifications

• Forklift certification
• OSHA safety training
• Quality inspection experience
• Experience with inventory management systems and barcode scanning technology
