Join PMK as an experienced Customs Entry Writer (Customs Brokerage Specialist). You will work with some of the industry’s most respected customs specialists, at PMK and with our sister company in Canada, Courtney Agencies (www.courtney.ca). Our diverse client list allows you to expand your classification and compliance knowledge. Most of PMK’s 10 staff work from our SeaTac office; and entry writers are provided with a laptop for home use.
We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Customs Entry Writer (Customs Brokerage Specialist) to join our dynamic team. In this role, you will be responsible for preparing and submitting accurate customs entries, ensuring compliance with all relevant regulations, and managing the documentation required for smooth customs clearance. Your expertise will help optimize our clients’ supply chain operations while maintaining strict adherence to international trade laws.
This role targets candidates with three years or more customs clearance experience. PMK is primarily an ocean import environment with growing air, rail and Northern Border (PAPs) volumes.
You will be responsible for the inbound shipment process in adherence to the local customs authority and other government agencies (OGA’s) such as FDA, FCC, USDA, FWS etc; providing customer service and problem resolution to ensure timely and accurate customs release. As a CTPAT (Customs Trade Partnership Against Terrorism) certified company, PMK prioritizes adherence to safety, regulations, sanctions and applicable international trade laws.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
· Serve a dedicated and diverse client base handling their customs needs from A to Z
· Prioritize work based on estimated time of arrival (ETA), workflow processes, last free day and transportation mode
· Review shipping documentation such as commercial invoices, bills of lading, packing lists, and export declarations to verify accuracy and completeness.
· Classify entry per client SOP, Parts Database with support from a licensed customs broker
· Process customs entries and related government agency interfaces that may apply. This includes setting up ISF’s; reviewing shipment and customs data and processing customs entries via software systems
· Proactively work with government agencies and customs authorities to resolve issues
· Build your customs and supply chain knowledge and relationships, working collaboratively with freight forwarders, domestic and foreign importers, trucking companies, container facilities and other partners.
