Plymouth State University invites candidates to apply for the School Director, School of Business position. The School Director of the School of Business will occupy a unique place in the continuum of academic administrators, as leader and as the link among faculty members, staff, students, the Office of Academic Affairs and Principal Administrators. All activities and roles of the School Director of the School of Business are undertaken with the goal of furthering the best interests of the students at Plymouth State University.

School Directors serve five essential roles: (1) Academic leader of the School of Business; (2) Representative of the School of Business to the rest of the University, especially to the University administration; (3) Representative of the University leadership to the School of Business; (4) Manager of the School of Business resources; and (5) Representative of the School of Business and the University to external bodies.

Strategy and Leadership (30%)

  • Coordinating the development of and implementation of the School of Business’ Vision, Mission, and Goals in alignment with the University’s Vision, Mission, and Values
    • Leading and coordinating the School of Business’ strategic planning
    • Leading School of Business efforts toward achieving the University’s strategic goals and initiatives
  • Leading and coordinating curriculum development of Programs in the School of Business
  • Leading the School of Business’ recruitment and retention initiatives
  • Supporting Program and School of Business fundraising initiatives, as well as public outreach and services, in accordance with PSU and USNH policies
  • Engaging in any additional responsibilities specific to the School of Business and its Programs
  • Providing leadership through times of limited resources and significant change, and managing challenges to achieve long-term stability
Assessment, Accreditation, and Evaluation (30%)

  • Evaluating overall School of Business quality in instruction, scholarly and creative productivity, and service responsibilities
  • Overseeing assessment activities for all Programs in the School of Business and the incorporation of data into Program curriculum and activities
  • Leading and coordinating with School of Business faculty all Program accreditation and discipline reporting activities, as appropriate
  • Following HR and OAA Guidelines on evaluating the School of Business faculty and staff coordinating the professional development of the faculty in the School of Business
  • Supervising, evaluating, and supporting Programs/School of Business in a manner that promotes excellence in teaching, service, and scholarly/creative productivity
  • Advising and providing recommendations to the Provost on University policies and procedures, especially in the academic area

Management and Operations (40%)

  • Managing the School of Business budget
  • Leading and coordinating all operational academic needs such as scheduling, and faculty workloads with School of Business programs, faculty, and staff in communication with OAA
  • Assessing and making recommendations to the OAA about the distribution and utilization of School of Business facilities and spaces
  • Recruiting, supervising, and promoting the retention of faculty and staff in the School of Business
  • Providing recommendations regarding sabbaticals and other leaves for School of Business faculty to the sabbatical committee
  • Supervising faculty and programs support staff in the School of Business
  • Teaching up to 1 course (3-4 credits) in load per semester, only if necessary

Minimum Acceptable Education & Experience

  • Terminal degree in their field or at least three years of experience directing unit or center
  • A well-rounded selection of as many of the KSAs/Competencies (soft skills) listed below as possible

Preferred Qualifications

  • Doctorate and at least five years of experience directing a center or unit

Compensation Pay Range

$100,000.00 - $450,000.00
