Our service area includes the city of Atlanta and the cities and neighborhoods of South Fulton. Atlanta Habitat is seeking a Construction Intern to support our mission.
Position Summary
This internship will follow the construction of a single-family house from beginning to end and provide hands-on experience in various aspects of carpentry and construction, allowing the intern to develop practical skills and gain valuable industry knowledge.
Duties/Responsibilities
Atlanta Habitat is a Drug-Free Workplace. This position is subject to a criminal background and credit check, periodic DMV checks for driving record and valid driver’s license, and drug and alcohol testing. Duties/Responsibilities
- Attend New Hire Orientation.
- Understand the overall concept of company and goals of construction team.
- Work on designated construction sites
- Support the Construction department as needed.
- Schedule Wednesday, and/or Thursday and Saturday with a minimum of 16-24 hours a week.
- Introduction to construction tools and techniques
- Understanding construction plans
- Hands on experience
- Project Management Skills
- Safety Protocols for construction
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Prolonged periods of standing and working on job sites.
- Must be able to lift to 75 pounds at times.
