Plowshares After School Program at our Lincoln School location is seeking experienced, enthusiastic, creative, and compassionate individuals to join our team for the 2026–2027 school year. This position begins now and continues through the last day of school in June 2027.
Plowshares is a nonprofit childcare organization offering two after‑school programs in Newton. Our work centers on social‑emotional learning, providing an educational, fun, and supportive experience for children. We’re looking to add another superhero to our team of educators — and we welcome college students, musicians, dancers, athletes, artists/crafters, and anyone with a passion for working with kids.
What Our Educators Do Each Afternoon
- Welcome children as they arrive.
- Assist with snack/lunch.
- Follow a daily schedule of structured and unstructured programming.
- Support children with homework.
- Provide 1:1 assistance when needed.
- Plan and lead activities and clubs based on your own skills and the interests of the children.
We’re Looking for Someone Who:
- Has experience working with children in Kindergarten–5th grade (school, camp, childcare, etc.).
- Has completed or is working toward a degree in education or a related field (college students encouraged to apply).
- Shows strong initiative, dependability, and a solid work ethic.
- Can collaborate with a team to plan and run engaging activities (STEM, arts and crafts, gym games, performing arts, and more).
- Keeps children engaged during both structured and unstructured activities.
- Maintains positive, professional relationships with students, families, and coworkers.
- Can be flexible and work well in a team setting.
- Is able to pass an EEC background check.
Schedules:
- Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays, Fridays: 2:00–6:00 PM
- Wednesdays: 11:00 AM–6:00 PM
- Extra Early Release Days: 11:30-6:00 10/27, 12/3, 2/4, 3/18, 5/6, and the last day of school TBD
