The Opportunity: Lead Teacher

As a Lead After School Teacher, you'll play a vital role in the daily lives of our students, guiding them through engaging activities. This is a fantastic opportunity for an educator or youth professional who enjoys leading, inspiring, and connecting with children.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design & Lead Creative Activities: Plan, set up, and lead a variety of engaging, developmentally appropriate activities and clubs tailored for K-1 or 2nd-5th grade students.
  • Foster Social-Emotional Growth: Facilitate positive peer interactions, support conflict resolution, and create a welcoming, inclusive space where young children feel secure and celebrated.
  • Support Daily Routines: Guide students through snack time, homework support, and transitions between activities with patience and care.
  • Supervise Play & Exploration: Actively supervise and participate in indoor and outdoor recreation, encouraging imaginative play and physical development.
  • Collaborate & Innovate: Work closely with co-teachers to coordinate monthly program calendars and ensure a cohesive, exciting experience for all students.
  • Team & Professional Development: Attend weekly all-staff meetings on Wednesday mornings and participate in brief daily check-ins to collaborate on student success.

Schedule & Academic Calendar

This is a school-year position, with additional hours available during February and April vacation weeks.

  • Wednesdays: 11:00 AM – 6:00 PM (includes paid weekly staff meeting)
  • Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday: 2:00 PM – 6:00 PM
  • Total: 23 hours per week

Key Dates for the 2026–2027 School Year:

  • Paid Staff Orientation Week: Monday, August 24, 2026 – Friday, August 28, 2026
  • First Day with Students: Wednesday, September 2, 2026

Qualifications & What We're Looking For

We're seeking an enthusiastic, dedicated individual who is committed to creating positive experiences for children.

Required Qualifications:

  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Minimum of one year of prior experience working with school-age children in a school, after-school program, camp, or other educational setting.
  • Ability to successfully pass CORI and SORI background checks, as well as a national fingerprint database check.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Associate's or Bachelor's degree in education, child development, human services, or a related field.
