What are the responsibilities and job description for the Direct Support Professional (DSP) position at PLEASANT VIEW INC?
Pleasant View, Inc. is currently accepting applications for full-time and part-time Direct Support Professionals in Broadway, VA or Harrisonburg, VA. There is a shift differential of $1.00/hour if working anytime between 3:00 PM and 7:00 AM! if eligible to drive an extra $0.25/ hour, medication trained an extra $0.75/ hour, peg tube trained for a specific house an extra $.0.50/ hour.
Basic Duties include:
- Provide support to stimulate a greater degree of independence in each individual given his/her abilities and needs.
- Providing the level of care which best supports the needs of each individual. That care includes, but is not limited to, toileting, bathing, feeding, preparing meals, and household cleaning.
- Monitor for symptoms of illness or dysfunction and report to supervisor.
- Implement all applicable federal, state, and local standards daily.
- Keep accurate and consistent notes.
- Provide professional and accurate communication with family representatives.
- Protect confidentiality and rights of individuals.
Minimum Qualifications: (knowledge, skills, education, and abilities)
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Have a valid driver’s license and an acceptable driving record
- Must be able to pass a drug screen, physical, and criminal & social services background check
- Must be able to relate well to the residents and staff
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, multitask, work in a team setting as well as independently
- Effective oral and written communication
- Ability to access all facilities and areas of all the programs
- Must be able to attend and pass all required trainings
- A desire to help people with developmental disabilities
