As a full-time Utilities Technician I, you become an essential member of our Public Works Pleasant View, UT team-learning, growing, and making visible contributions every single day. This role is designed as an entry-level, apprentice-style opportunity, ideal for someone eager to develop real-world technical skills and long-term career potential.

  • $21.63 - $32.45 per hour (DOE)

WHAT YOU'LL DO:

As our entry-level Utilities Technician I, you'll be trained to support vital city operations, including:

  • Maintaining, repairing, and constructing water, sewer, and solid waste infrastructure
  • Meter reading, main line repairs, blue staking, and data collection
  • Snowplowing and participating in emergency after-hours duties
  • Operating light and heavy equipment like dump trucks, snowplows, backhoes, mowers, and more
  • Maintaining city facilities (lights, minor repairs, cleaning)
  • Connecting/disconnecting water service
  • Completing work orders and supporting long- and short-term projects
  • Assisting with traffic control setups
  • Transporting materials (gravel, dirt, road base, etc.)
  • Keeping equipment lubricated and operational
  • Participating in an after-hours on-call rotation
  • Collaborating with great coworkers and promoting a positive team environment

This job is hands-on, practical, and deeply meaningful-perfect for someone who wants to see the results of their work every day.


WHAT'S NEEDED:

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Valid Utah driver's license
  • Current CDL or the ability to obtain one within 6 months of hire
  • Ability to use basic hand and power tools
  • Knowledge of basic practices and methods for pipeline repair and construction
  • Knowledge of common job-site hazards and safety practices
  • Physical ability to lift 50-75 pounds and work in various weather conditions
  • Ability to perform routine job tasks, such as mowing, weed maintenance, etc.
  • Ability to be on-call when assigned
  • Ability to learn quickly and work in fast-paced environments
  • Strong communication skills, problem-solving initiative, and a team-first mindset

Experience is not required for this entry-level Utilities Technician I role. We provide on-the-job training for motivated applicants!
