Responsibilities
- Perform comprehensive dental cleanings, including scaling, polishing, and fluoride treatments, ensuring optimal oral health for patients.
- Conduct patient assessments by reviewing medical history, vital signs, and current dental conditions to inform treatment plans.
- Take and develop dental radiographs (X-rays) using dental imaging equipment while adhering to safety protocols.
- Educate patients on proper oral hygiene practices, preventive care, and post-treatment instructions to foster long-term dental health.
- Assist with chairside procedures using four-handed dentistry techniques to enhance efficiency and patient comfort.
- Maintain accurate and detailed electronic health records (EHR/Electronic Medical Records) in compliance with HIPAA regulations and practice policies.
- Ensure infection prevention measures are strictly followed through aseptic techniques and proper sterilization of dental equipment.
Skills
- Proficiency with dental software systems such as Eaglesoft and Dentrix for scheduling, documentation, and record management.
- Strong knowledge of dental terminology, anatomy, medical terminology, and general dentistry procedures.
- Experience in pediatric dentistry and working with pediatric patients is highly preferred.
- Ability to perform dental x-rays accurately while maintaining patient safety standards.
- Excellent communication skills to effectively educate patients about their dental care needs and treatment options.
- Knowledge of healthcare infection prevention and control practices, including HIPAA compliance management.
- Familiarity with medical imaging, vital signs monitoring, medical records review, and documentation review processes.
