Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Third Shift Medication Aide to join our healthcare team. As a Medication Aide working the third shift, you will play a crucial role in ensuring safe medication management and delivering high-quality senior, assisted living, or long-term care.
Responsibilities
- Administer prescribed medications accurately and safely in accordance with physician orders and facility policies
- Monitor residents’ vital signs, health status, and response to medications during overnight shifts
- Document all medication administrations and patient observations precisely using Electronic Medical Record (EMR) or Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems such as Epic or Cerner
- Assist residents with daily activities including mobility, hygiene, and nutrition while respecting their dignity and independence
- Observe for signs of medical emergencies or changes in condition related to dementia, Alzheimer’s disease, or other chronic illnesses
- Maintain strict compliance with HIPAA regulations to protect patient confidentiality and medical records
- Collaborate with nursing staff and healthcare providers to ensure comprehensive patient care and accurate medical documentation
Experience
- Prior experience working in assisted living facilities, nursing homes, hospitals, or home care environments is highly preferred
- Familiarity with medical terminology, physiology, anatomy, and nursing practices including catheter care and tube feeding techniques
- Experience with medication administration protocols and managing complex medication regimens for individuals with disabilities or memory impairments
- Knowledge of EMR/EHR systems such as Epic or Cerner for documentation purposes
- Background in hospice care, dementia care, or working with individuals with developmental disabilities is advantageous
- Strong understanding of patient care standards within acute care settings and community-based services
- Demonstrated ability to handle medical records accurately while maintaining HIPAA compliance
