Responsibilities
- Safely administer prescribed medications to residents following all protocols and physician orders, including oral, topical, and injectable medications.
- Monitor residents’ vital signs and observe for any adverse reactions or changes in condition, documenting findings accurately in electronic health record (EHR) systems such as Epic or Cerner.
- Assist residents with activities of daily living (ADLs), including hygiene, mobility, and feeding, with special attention to Alzheimer’s care and dementia-related needs.
- Maintain detailed medical documentation and ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations to protect patient confidentiality.
- Support residents during tube feeding procedures and catheter care, adhering strictly to safety standards and best practices.
- Collaborate with nursing staff to update medical records, track medication schedules, and report any concerns or changes in resident health status.
- Provide compassionate care for individuals with developmental disabilities or those requiring hospice or memory care services during evening shifts.
Experience
- Prior experience working in assisted living facilities, nursing homes, hospitals, or home care environments is highly preferred.
- Familiarity with medical terminology, physiology, anatomy knowledge, and medical documentation practices enhances your ability to deliver excellent patient care.
- Experience using EMR/EHR systems such as Epic or Cerner is advantageous for maintaining accurate records efficiently.
- Knowledge of medication administration protocols, vital signs measurement, and tube feeding procedures is essential.
- Previous caregiving roles involving seniors or individuals with disabilities will help you excel in this position.
