Coaching - JH Girls Head Basketball Coach

Job Responsibilities:

• Oversee the Girls Junior High School Basketball Program.
• Develop and train student-athletes to play basketball.
• Motivate, mentor, and have a passion for develping student-athletes on and off the Court.
• Develop an effective training program.
• Instruct and guide student-athletes in fundamental skills, strategies, and physical training necessary for them to realize a degree of individual and team success.
• Instruct and guide student-athletes to lead them to the formulation and enhancement of moral values, pride of accomplishments, acceptable social behavior, self-discipline, and self-confidence.
• Foster teamwork and sportsmanship.
• Ensure the safety and well-being of student-athletes.
• Cooperate, in a timely manner, with School Athletic Director and the District Athletic Department in regard to requests for pertinent information that might be required periodically.
• Meet all the requirements mandated by the District Board of Education, The Ohio High School Athletic Assn. (OHSAA) and the Ohio Department of Education (ODE) relative to mandated coaching requirements (Coaches Tool Chest (CTC) Training/Certification and Pupil Activity Permit (PAP).
• Check the status of academic eligibility for all prospective student-athletes.
• Follow the District Athletic Department Policies as outlined in the Coaches Handbook and meet all criteria as outlined in the job description.
• Model the behavior expected of student-athletes including timeliness to practices and games, being positive and enthusiastic, being respectful, and practicing constructive criticism while upholding the disciplines of the program.
• Maintain a suitable sideline conduct, including the use of appropriate language, at all times.
• Recognize the need to be aware of, and implement, all applicable administrative policies set forth by the District Board of Education, Superintendents of Schools, School Principals, Conference Leagues, ODE, and OHSAA.
• Provide all applicable in-season training rules as well as any that may apply to out-of-season. 
• Follow appropriate due process procedures when violations occur.
• Participate in School events (i.e. Pep Assemblies, Awards Night, Athletic Boosters Meeting, etc.
• Ensure that teams are well prepared for opponents.
• Maintain accurate inventory of equipment and supplies.    

Skills/Qualifications:

• Fundraising experience.
• Strong leadership.
• Must be passionate and dedicated to inspire student-athletes.
• Previous coaching experience required.
• Serve as a role model.
• Demonstrated knowledge and skills associated with the sport.

Training/Certifications:

• Ohio Secondary Teaching Certificate preferred.
• Evidence of successful past coaching experience required.
• Provide satisfactory result of County Police Records Check, State BCII Check, and a Fingerprint Background Check.
• Possess an Ohio Department of Education (ODE) Pupil Activity Permit (PAP).
• Provide satisfactory proof of completion of Coaches Tool Chest (CTC) Training/Certification.

Type of Contract: Supplemental Annual Limited

Salary:  Per Schedule E Contract of current C.F.T Labor Agreement

Reports To:  School Principal
