Te Whānau Tupu Ngātahi o Aotearoa – Playcentre Aotearoa is a well known and loved Early Childhood organisation with over 70 years of supporting parents to take the lead in their children’s learning through play. Playcentre operates 400 Playcentres throughout the country.
Playcentre’s Education team is seeking experienced kaiako to join our adult learning programmes as Tutors. In this role, you will facilitate our education programmes, supporting adult learners in developing their skills and understanding within the Playcentre philosophy
We are looking for passionate kaiako with a strong foundation in early learning, the ability to inspire adult learners, and a solid understanding of Playcentre’s commitment to Te Tiriti o Waitangi, whānau-led education, and play-based learning. Applications are welcomed from kaiako across Aotearoa.

Days & Hours
We are seeking Tutors skilled in te Ao Māori to deliver PE4 Te Kākano – Te reo me ōna Tikanga Māori, particularly in the Auckland and Tauranga areas as well as Tutors to deliver the general Playcentre Educator modules and Learning through Play workshops in a variety of specific geographical areas. This is a casual role, with work assigned on a termly basis. Currently, face-to-face facilitation is required, with the potential for online facilitation in the future. This role is across a range of specific locations with priority given to the following areas; Far north, North Shore, Tauranga, King Country, Tairāwhiti, Wairarapa, Palmerston North, Whanganui & Invercargill

Desired Skills And Experience
- an ECE qualification at Level 4 (i.e., the NZ Certificate in Early Childhood Education and Care (Level 4) or the NZ Diploma (Level 5) or an ECE-teaching qualification or Course 4 of the Playcentre Diploma).
- Qualifications in adult teaching and learning preferred, and/or willingness to undertake further study.
- Prior experience in a similar position, and ECE or Playcentre experience is useful
- Must demonstrate the principles and values of Te Whare Tikanga Māori
- Excellent relationship management skills
- Strong communication skills, both oral and written
- Organised – excellent time management skills and ability to meet deadlines
- Flexibility to travel and work remotely as required from time to time
- Commitment to ongoing professional development and growth
