About Playcast
Playcast is a peer-to-peer streaming application delivering shared, real-time gaming experiences with ultra-low latency. We’re an aggressively startup-minded team, backed by fresh investor funding, and building a product designed to disrupt how people play together online. Our tech stack spans AWS cloud services, modern (JavaScript) web frameworks, native (C ) Windows integration, Streaming video and advanced networking.
We move fast, innovate constantly, and believe in data-driven decision-making to guide team success.
Our product spans modern web apps, native Windows clients, OS-level integration, and high-performance cloud infrastructure—all working together to make streaming multiplayer sessions seamless and shareable.
The Role
We’re looking for a Development Lead to take ownership of execution across a diverse, multi-disciplinary engineering team. You’ll lead several engineers of varying experience working on everything from OS integration to the UI, and play a key technical role yourself—especially on the web side (React, Electron/Node) where we most need additional depth.
This is a hands-on role for someone who enjoys shipping features, shaping architecture, mentoring engineers, and driving delivery. You’ll define engineering metrics, improve our processes, and help us scale velocity without compromising on quality.
What You’ll Do
- Lead technical execution across full-stack, systems, and client-side teams
- Contribute directly—especially in web-oriented work using React and Electron/Node.js
- Drive architectural decisions, system design, and long-term technical planning
- Coordinate across product, QA, and Ops to build toward release-readiness
- Define and track metrics for velocity, throughput, review quality, and stability
- Create an environment where engineers can grow, contribute, and move quickly
Our Stack
You don’t need to be a deep expert in every area—but familiarity with several will help:
- Frontend: React, TypeScript
- Desktop Client: Electron Node.js
- OS Integration: C and Windows drivers
- Backend Infrastructure: AWS-native, containerized services
What We’re Looking For
- 5–10 years in software engineering, with direct experience leading teams or projects
- Strong track record of hands-on work in frontend and full-stack development
- Experience building and maintaining production-grade React and/or Electron applications
- Familiarity with C and native Windows development is a plus—but not required
- Proficient in AWS cloud systems, modern CI/CD pipelines, and performance-minded engineering
- Committed to measurable delivery: velocity, quality, and accountability
Why You Might Love This
- You’ll shape how software gets built at a fast-moving company with real user impact
- You’ll work alongside an engineering team that’s talented, tight-knit, and ready to scale
- You’ll get to wear many hats—code, mentor, lead, design—and do meaningful work every week
- We’re based in Everett, WA, and actively working to optimize for commute convenience, even amidst the I-5 traffic chaos
- The product is cool, the mission is clear, and you’ll never be bored
