Position Summary
Play Academy is seeking an experienced and engaging Tennis Instructor to lead weekly youth tennis clinics within HOA communities. This role is responsible for introducing and developing foundational tennis skills in a fun, structured, and supportive environment. The instructor will work directly with children of varying ages and skill levels, focusing on skill development, movement, coordination, and enjoyment of the game.
Schedule & Commitment
- 1 session per week per community
- Morning sessions: 9:00 AM – 11:00 AM
- Each session is 2 hours in length
Compensation
- $35 per hour
Camp Schedule
- Monday – Friday, June 1st – August 8th
(Tennis instruction sessions will be scheduled as a weekly specialty add-on within the camp programming.)
Key Responsibilities
- Lead age-appropriate tennis instruction for beginner youth players
- Teach fundamental skills including grip, stance, footwork, serving, rallying, and basic game play
- Create a fun, structured, and positive learning environment
- Set up and break down tennis equipment before and after each session
- Adapt instruction based on age, skill level, and group size
- Encourage sportsmanship, teamwork, and confidence in all participants
- Maintain safety and supervision of all participants throughout sessions
- Communicate any needs, concerns, or program feedback to Play Academy leadership
Qualifications
- Prior experience coaching tennis or working in youth sports instruction preferred
- Strong communication and ability to engage children ages 5–12
- Energetic, reliable, and positive coaching style
- Ability to manage small group instruction independently
- CPR/AED certification preferred (or willingness to obtain)
This position is classified as a 1099 Independent Contractor
- Responsible for taxes, insurance, and compliance as applicable
- Flexible weekly commitment based on community scheduling
Physical Requirements
- Ability to actively demonstrate tennis skills and drills
- Ability to remain active on court for the duration of the session
- Ability to lift and move light sports equipment
- Ability to supervise and respond quickly in a fast-paced environment
