Job Title: Daycare Cook / Childcare Kitchen Staff
Job Summary:
The Daycare Cook is responsible for preparing and serving nutritious, age-appropriate meals and snacks for children in a safe, clean, and positive childcare environment. This role ensures compliance with health regulations, food safety standards, and any state or program nutrition guidelines.
Key Responsibilities:
- Plan and prepare daily meals and snacks according to daycare menus and nutritional guidelines
- Accommodate food allergies, dietary restrictions, and special meal plans
- Maintain cleanliness and sanitation of kitchen, equipment, and food storage areas
- Follow proper food handling, storage, and safety procedures (including temperature logs)
- Order food and kitchen supplies and manage inventory
- Label, date, and properly store food items
- Work with daycare staff to coordinate meal times and portions
- Ensure compliance with local health department and childcare licensing regulations
- Participate in menu planning and nutrition programs (e.g., CACFP, if applicable)
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Previous cooking or food service experience (childcare, school, or institutional cooking preferred)
- Knowledge of basic nutrition for children
- Food Handler’s Permit or willingness to obtain
- Ability to follow allergy and special diet protocols
- Reliable, organized, and able to work independently
- Must be 21 and a licensed driver
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to stand for extended periods
- Lift up to 40 lbs
- Work in a fast-paced kitchen environment
Work Schedule:
Full-time, typically weekdays M-F 8-4
Willingness to attend training on weekends if needed.

Responsibilities

Experience
- Prior experience working in dietary departments or as a dietary aide is highly desirable
- Proven background in food preparation, cooking, or restaurant service within the food industry
- Familiarity with menu planning, meal assembly, and food handling procedures
- Strong knife skills and knowledge of culinary techniques for efficient meal preparation
- Understanding of food safety regulations and proper sanitation practices
- Previous kitchen experience in a healthcare or hospitality setting is advantageous
