Job Description: Landscape Construction Estimator

Compensation: $80,000 – $100,000 per year (DOE)
Location: Irvine, CA or Palm Desert, CA

Platinum Landscape is a Southern California landscape construction company focused on disciplined execution, organized project delivery, and strong client support. The company performs landscape construction work that requires careful preconstruction review, accurate estimating, and well-prepared proposal packages. We are seeking an Estimator who can contribute to that standard with accuracy, professionalism, and sound judgment.
Position Overview
The Estimator plays an important role in reviewing bid opportunities, preparing takeoffs, obtaining competitive pricing, and supporting the development of complete and accurate bids. This position works closely with internal leadership, operations, vendors, and subcontractors to help the company pursue work that is properly scoped and competitively priced.
Key Responsibilities
- Review plans, general conditions, schedules, scopes of work, site logistics, and related bid exhibits.
- Prepare organized and complete takeoffs for landscape construction scope.
- Solicit, review, and compare pricing from vendors and subcontractors.
- Enter takeoff data, pricing, and supporting information into the estimating system with accuracy and consistency.
- Evaluate alternate means and methods and recommend value engineering ideas when appropriate.
- Draft proposal documents and assist with final bid packaging.
- Support internal coordination to confirm scope coverage, assumptions, and pricing before submission.
- Create and Communicate budgets and cost expectation with Field Operations i.e. Project Managers, Superintendents, Foremen.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED required.
- 2-5 years of construction estimating experience or equivalent field experience.
- Strong ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications.
- Working knowledge of plant and irrigation materials, costs, and nursery sourcing.
- Ability to gather, calculate, and compile takeoff data for bid use.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel.
- Proficiency with On Center Software's On-Screen Takeoff (OST).
- Ability to prioritize, multi-task, and perform well under deadlines.
Preferred Qualifications
- Construction management background or additional education.
- Proven success estimating public works projects.
- Proven success estimating and selling private residential estate work.
- Proficiency with On Center Software's On-Screen Takeoff (OST).
Schedule
This position is scheduled from Monday to Friday 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM PST.
