Staff Product Quality Engineer | San Jose, CA
The Product Quality Engineer acts as a key liaison between customers and internal engineering teams, ensuring high standards of product performance and customer satisfaction. This role focuses on leading quality investigations, driving root cause analysis, and supporting continuous improvement initiatives across the product portfolio. You will work closely with cross-functional teams including design, manufacturing, reliability, and customer support, taking ownership of product quality outcomes.
The Role:
Lead investigations into customer-reported issues using structured methodologies such as 8D, 5 Whys, and cause-and-effect analysis.
Work with cross-functional teams (engineering, manufacturing, reliability, and testing) to identify root causes and implement corrective actions.
Oversee failure analysis activities and communicate results clearly to stakeholders.
Support customer audits, technical reviews, and product qualification processes.
Track and analyse field performance data, return trends, and key quality metrics
Key Skills and Experience:
Degree in Electrical Engineering, Materials Science, or a related discipline.
Significant experience (typically 10 years) in semiconductor quality, product engineering, reliability, or manufacturing environments.
Strong knowledge of semiconductor technologies, including fabrication, assembly, testing, and reliability principles.
Experience with data analysis tools (e.g., Python, MATLAB, Excel) and statistical techniques such as SPC and DOE.
Desirable Experience
Experience working with high-reliability sectors such as automotive or industrial applications.
Familiarity with industry standards and quality frameworks.
Knowledge of advanced failure analysis techniques and reliability testing methods.
Previous experience in customer-facing or support-oriented technical roles
