Responsibilities
Provide reliable classroom coverage across age groups, ensuring constant supervision, health & safety, and a warm, engaging environment. Follow daily routines and lesson plans, support behavior guidance, and team with classroom staff so ratios and licensing requirements are always met.
Key responsibilities
- Maintain active supervision, accurate headcounts, and required ratios at all times (indoors, outdoors, transitions).
- Follow posted schedules; support circle time, centers, meals/snacks, naps, and outdoor play.
- Implement teacher plans; facilitate age-appropriate activities that promote social-emotional, language, cognitive, and physical development.
- Practice diapering/toileting, safe sleep, handwashing, sanitation, allergy/food plans, and mealtime assistance per center procedures.
- Perform basic health checks; complete incident/accident and medication logs as directed.
- Keep spaces clean, organized, and inviting; sanitize mouthed toys and high-touch surfaces per schedule.
- Communicate positively with children, families, and staff; model PELC values and follow confidentiality guidelines.
- Follow all PELC policies and state licensing rules (WAC 110-300), including mandatory reporting.
- Take direction from Lead/Assistant Teachers and Admin; step into any classroom as needed.
- Support teachers by preparing the classroom for the next day (tidying, sanitizing toys, restocking supplies).
- Assist with cleaning responsibilities, including wiping tables, organizing materials, and sanitizing high-touch areas.
- Collaborate with staff to complete closing checklists and lock-up procedures as directed by the Director or Lead Teachers.
- Roles may include opening/closing shifts and short-notice assignments.
Qualifications
- MERIT Profile Registered
- Minimum Age: 16 years
- Experience: no experience required but preferred.
- Education: High school diploma, GED, or enrolled.
- Requirements: Clear Background check, Negative TB Test, Proof of MMR vaccinations (or Proof of immunity)
- Warm, caring personality with a passion for working with children.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and engage in floor-level activities.
- Good communication and teamwork skills.
Work Schedule
- Part-time or full-time, Monday–Friday.
- From 2h to 8h shift (depending on needs)
