- Duty Location: Naval Medical Center Portsmouth. No Telework allowed.
- Duty Hours : Monday – Friday (0700 – 1530). Total work hours shall not exceed 40 hours per week.
- Receives and screens telephone calls; receives walk-in patients; responds to various general and routine medical, personnel and administrative inquiries, and escorts patients as necessary.
- Creates preadmission charts and completes the process in the electronic medical record or government systems in accordance with regulation and local policy and procedure.
- Provides advance directives, third party liability documentation, and other forms for patient to complete for inclusion into inpatient medical record .
- Tracks and reports daily patient movement, bed status and ward transfers.
- Corrects admission errors.
- Assists in coordinating patient transfers from other wards or to outside facilities.
- Tracks and reports all casualty reports and notifications in accordance Government policies and procedures.
- Degree/Education: High School degree / GED
- Experience: Possess a minimum of two (2) years Office Automation/Front Desk Clerk, with at least one (1) year in a medical or hospital environment.
- Knowledge of Medical Terminology.
- Knowledge and demonstrated competence in the use of the capabilities, operating characteristics, and advanced functions of office automation software (e.g., word processing, desktop publishing, graphics, database, spreadsheet, or communication).
- Capable of typing 60 words per minute and well versed in the operation of a wide range of dictating equipment and software.
- Demonstrate c omprehensive knowledge of standard medical facility / office rules, regulations, Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs ) and other guidelines relating to completing task s. This knowledge is usually attained through extensive, increasingly difficult, and practical experience and training in a medical office or similar setting .
- Must pass TB Test
