PCU Registered Nurse Job Details

• Location: Bloomington, IN 47408 (Indiana nursing jobs)
• Assignment Type: Locum tenens, travel nurse contract
• Unit: 5E – Acute Adaptable (PCU/Stepdown/ICU level care)
• Shift: 12-hour night shifts (19:00 – 07:30)
• Shifts per Week: 3 or 4 (36–48 hours/week)
• Duration: 13 weeks (Start: 10/21/2025 – End: 1/20/2026)
• Guaranteed Hours: 36–48 hours per week
• Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend
• Patient Ratios: 1:4–6, based on acuity
• Charting System: Cerner
• Scrub Colors: Black bottoms, red top
• Parking: Free onsite parking
• Estimated Weekly Salary: $1890–$1940
  
  

PCU RN Qualifications

• Minimum 1.5 years of recent PCU, Stepdown, or ICU nursing experience (2 years preferred)
• Active Indiana or Compact Registered Nurse (RN) license required
• Certifications: ACLS, BLS, NIHSS (all required for healthcare jobs)
• Experience with Cerner electronic charting preferred
• Graduation from an ACEN or CCNE accredited nursing program
• Willingness to float within scope and work charge nurse duties as needed
• Must work 2 out of 3 major holidays during assignment
• Travel nurses only – local Indiana residents not eligible
  
  

PCU Nurse Responsibilities

• Deliver high-quality patient care for medical-surgical, PCU, stepdown, and ICU acuity levels
• Manage patient diagnoses including COPD, pneumonia, sepsis, UTI, and CHF
• Monitor and interpret telemetry and cardiac rhythms
• Administer and titrate cardiac and vasoactive drips
• Provide central and peripheral line care, including PICC line management
• Implement isolation precautions and infection control protocols
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare teams (physical therapy, respiratory services, pharmacy)
• Float to other hospital units as required
• Participate in charge nurse duties when assigned
