- Location: Charleston, WV (ZIP 25301) – West Virginia healthcare jobs
- Facility: Major teaching hospital, Level 1 Trauma Center
- Unit: 5 South - Trauma Stepdown (IMC/PCU)
- Employment Type: Locum Tenens, Travel Nursing Contract
- Contract Duration: 13 weeks (Start: 10/16/2025 – End: 1/15/2026)
- Shift: Night shifts, 4x12-hour (7:00 PM – 7:00 AM); 36 or 48 hours/week
- Estimated Weekly Salary: $1680 - $1730
- Orientation: 16 hours (every other Thursday)
- Unit Details: 25 floor beds, 6 step-down beds, 6 pediatric beds (no pediatric assignment for travelers)
- Patient Ratios: Floor RN 1:5, Stepdown RN 1:3
- Weekend Coverage: Every other weekend required
- Charting System: Cerner EMR
- Scrub Color: Royal Blue/White (RN)
- Parking: Free for travel nurses
- Active WV or Compact Registered Nurse License (pending acceptable)
- Minimum 2 years of RN experience
- At least 1 year of PCU, IMC, Trauma, or Stepdown nursing experience
- BLS and ACLS certifications (American Heart Association)
- Fit Test and CPI (can be completed on-site)
- TNCC preferred
- Flu vaccine required during flu season (medical exemptions only)
- Ability to float within scope as needed
- Minimum 2 manager or charge references within the past 2 years
- First-time travel nurses accepted if experienced in ICU/Trauma
- Perm employees must wait 2 years after last day worked perm to return as travelers
- Permanent address must be greater than 100 miles from facility (75–99 miles considered case-by-case)
- Provide high-quality nursing care to trauma and surgical patients in a stepdown/intermediate care unit
- Perform advanced clinical skills: IV starts, ventilator management, telemetry, conscious sedation, blood product administration, central line and chest tube care, wound vac management, tracheostomy and feeding tube care
- Monitor and manage critical drips (amiodarone, cardizem, precedex, dopamine, dobutamine, insulin, nitro)
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare teams including IV, respiratory, physical therapy, pharmacy, and social services
- Float to other nursing units within scope as needed
- Maintain accurate documentation using Cerner EMR
- Complete required orientation and modules prior to start
- Follow infection control, isolation precautions, and rapid response protocols
